Quick, Painless Relief from Hemorrhoids Now Available in Southern Arizona

Arizona Gastroenterology is first Tucson practice to use Hemorrhoid Banding

Tucson, AZ (05/2009) – Arizona Gastroenterology now offers a revolutionary, state-of-the-art procedure: the CRH-O’Regan Hemorrhoid Banding system. This system, created by researchers at The Center for Colorectal Health, is one of the least expensive and most popular procedures for hemorrhoid removal, with 50 million bandings performed annually worldwide.

Arizona Gastroenterology is the first practice in Southern Arizona to provide this ground-breaking new procedure to hemorrhoid sufferers. All Arizona Gastroenterology physicians were trained through The Center for Colorectal Health on this procedure.

Approved and used by The Center for Colorectal Health, this method for treating painful hemorrhoids is considered the gold standard of treatments. Unlike other techniques that use a metal clamp to grasp the hemorrhoid during banding, the CRH-O'Regan procedure uses a gentle suction device that grasps and places the band around the inflamed tissue, reducing the risk of pain and bleeding.

Cutting off the blood supply causes the hemorrhoid to shrink and fall off, typically within a day. Most patients don’t even notice when this happens. Once the hemorrhoid is gone, the wound heals in about a week or two.

Additionally, while other centers rely on re-usable instrumentation, the instruments used in the CRH-O’Regan Banding System are 100% disposable and single-use.

The Hemorrhoid Banding procedure is 99.1% effective and is performed in under a minute. If there are multiple hemorrhoids, Arizona Gastroenterology treats them one at a time in separate visits.

During the first 24 hours, some patients may experience slight pain, easily nullified with over-the counter pain medication. A remarkable 99.8% of patients have no post-procedure pain.
