Karen Gavender Arizona Gastroenterology Continues to Grow Practice
Patty Higgins, MA, FMP joins team
Tucson, AZ (10/30/08) – Arizona Gastroenterology announces the addition of Patty Higgins MA, FNP to their office in Northwest Tucson. Higgins is a Tucson native who brings both enthusiasm and a rich medical background to the practice. Another exciting addition as the leaders in gastroenterological care continue their growth pattern.
As a Nurse Practitioner at Arizona Gastroenterology, Higgins will focus on patient gastrointestinal evaluation, new patient consultation, colon cancer screenings and cancer care.
Higgins earned her M.A. in science and nursing, as well as her Family Nurse Practitioner degree from the University of Phoenix. She has served in the healthcare field as a registered nurse for over 12 years.
For the past eight years, Higgins has worked with Arizona Oncology Associates of Tucson, gaining a wide range of oncology experience in all types of cancer including stomach, colon and esophageal cancer.
At Arizona Gastroenterology, she hopes to guide patients who have been newly diagnosed with cancer. Through her years in medicine, Higgins has been a strong supporter of the Tucson cancer community and in spreading the word on cancer prevention.
“I hope to be a resource for newly diagnosed cancer patients. Cancer is a scary disease, but it can be even scarier without gaining enough information about the disease. I hope to provide patients here at Arizona Gastroenterology with sufficient information, guidance and support,” said Higgins.
Higgins is a member of the Oncology Nursing Society and the American Gastroenterology Association. She and her husband reside in Tucson with their two teenage sons.
